The world revolves so much around money. It runs the world, and it runs the world badly. It makes people greedy, and stands in the way of many things for many people.
It is a privilege to be able to write to an audience, on my laptop, about problems that today’s society see’s as a problem. Or, to be able to have a job, a car, and a very nice roof over my head. Some people take it for granted so much, it blinds them and makes them selfish and ignorant.
While some people are able to read this, there are people around the world who don’t have the money for food, let alone clean drinking water. They don’t have shoes on their feet and maybe not even a roof over their head. The screens and technology money allows privileged people like me to buy also make us blind to what is going on in the world around us. More than ever media is able to put an emphasis on these happenings, but it makes us so desensitized because it is seen so frequently. People shrug off these issues and believe ignorance is bliss. And, it really is. But, ignorance is only bliss for those who are capable of being ignorant to the underprivileged of the world.
These people are too busy worry about where they’re going to go on vacation next or how they’re going to be able to fit their extra expensive car in their garage next to their other extra expensive cars. Or, these people are to busy worrying about what watch to wear when they’re going to check their phones for the time anyways. They worry about the things many people, even in our own country, don’t have the opportunity to worry about. It’s sad, because with the distribution of wealth to these extra rich and fancy people, they have the power to help the poor and underprivileged. However, they are too ignorant to the fact that there are suffering persons around the world. And that, is one factor in what makes the world so ugly.
